Commerce in Galena

As a bustling mining town with a large steamboat trade, 19th century Galena was a sight to behold, full of shops and tradesmen. At the museum, you can see a mock-up of the Grant Leather store that brought U.S. Grant to Galena in 1860 and explore the trades that Galenians plied in the 1800s from the new art of photography to the old art of pharmacy.
