You are invited to a rare glimpse of the 1865 White House as President and Mrs. Lincoln share stories of their lives together during a documentary play set against the backdrop of the American Civil War. The event will be held in the historic DeSoto House Hotel ballroom at 230 S. Main St. in Galena.Schedule

8pm-Living history theatre. The Lincolns reflect on the events of the past four years and their plans for the future. The one act play flashes back to the beginning of their lives together - their courtship and early marriage, the births of their children, Mr. Lincoln's legal career and the development of his political career – then brings the audience forward through the tumultuous years of the Civil War, the responsibilities of the Presidency and the personal traumas suffered by the family, ending as the President realizes it is time to leave for Ford's Theatre. A short epilogue addresses the events of April 14, 1865 and the last years of Mary Lincoln's life. The one hour program, suitable for adults and youth ages 10+, is followed by a question and answer period with the President and Mrs. Lincoln.

Soup, a house salad, and warm rolls with butter are included. Dessert is Mary's Toddy, a homemade bread pudding topped with a warm vanilla sauce.
